The Bharatiya Janata Party is set to kick-start its early poll campaign with a 75-day ‘Parivarthana Yatra’ scheduled to be launched on Thursday.
That party national president Amit Shah is flagging off the yatra signifies its political importance for the BJP State unit, which is pulling out all stops to return to power in the 2018 Assembly polls even as it is trying to quell infighting. The yatra will culminate in Bengaluru, with a programme to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Party’s top leaders, including State president B.S. Yeddyurappa, would tour all the 224 Assembly constituencies during the yatra. Party leaders are scheduled to visit three Assembly constituencies every day and hold public meetings in each of them.

Central leaders
The State unit has already made a request to prominent Central leaders, including Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani and Rajvardhan Rathore to participate in some of the public meetings to be held during the yatra.
They have also invited Chief Ministers of some of the BJP-governed States including Yogi Adityanath to address public meetings. “We are yet to get confirmation from them,” a party office-bearer said. The saffron party is gearing up to attack the Congress government during the yatra.

According to BJP leaders, the main focus would also be on alleged failure of law and order in the State.
“The BJP leaders will present an alternative agenda for the development of Karnataka and appeal to people to support the party in the Assembly elections,” a party leader told The Hindu .
The BJP leaders are also expected to get feedback on the party’s activities and its potential candidates during the yatra.
The party has asked all its 27,000 booth-level committees from 14 southern districts to ensure participation of six workers on three motorcycles from each of the booths for the launch of the yatra.
