The five rebel MLCs of the Bharatiya Janata Party, owing allegiance to the former Chief Minister and Karnataka Janata Paksha president B.S. Yeddyurappa appear to be in trouble as the BJP has got two of its loyal MLCs to file a petition against them before the Legislative Council Secretary seeking their disqualification from the Upper House on the charge of anti-party activities.

The MLCs, whose disqualification has been sought are Mr. Yeddyurappa’s close aides Bharati Shetty, B.J. Puttaswamy, Shivaraj Sajjan, Mohan Limbikai and Mumtaz Ali Khan.

The petition was filed by two BJP MLCs Ashwathnarayana and Somanna Bevinamarad before Council Secretary Shreesh in Bangalore on Tuesday.

The petition comes a day after a similar petition was filed before the Assembly Speaker seeking disqualification of 12 rebel BJP MLAs on Monday. Sources said petitioners left out the name of M.D. Laxminarayana, another MLC and a close aide of Mr. Yeddyurappa, as he is a nominated member.
