If the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has to win more seats in the Lok Sabha elections in the State, it must bring back the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to the party, said C.T. Ravi, BJP spokesperson.

Talking to presspersons on the sidelines of the four-day Alva’s Nudisiri Virasat here on Sunday, he said that the BJP has to continue the trend of cornering a majority of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the State. “The party, as well as Mr. Yeddyurappa, suffered because of the split that led to the Congress coming to power. It is a political necessity to bring Mr. Yeddyurappa back,” he said.

BJP National President Rajnath Singh and other senior leaders have been apprised of the need to bring Mr. Yeddyurappa back and talks have been held with Mr. Yeddyurappa. “It is the ideological pull that brings Mr. Yeddyurappa back. He has not imposed any condition to return to the party,” he said.

Asked if there was any opposition within the party to Mr. Yeddyurappa’s return, he said, “There are no ideological differences. Individual differences do not matter when we are working for an improved performance.”

Mr. Ravi said that the party has started the process of selection of party candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. “If Mr. Yeddyurappa wants to contest, he will be given ticket for a constituency of his choice,” he said.
