BJP members alleged that only a CBI probe would help nab the culprits involved in the murder of 34-year-old Gowda. The Congress government has been making efforts to hush up the alleged murder case to save Mr. Kulkarni in the government, and the police have been putting pressure on the family of the deceased to withdraw the case, Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar alleged.

On Thursday, Gowda’s family, at a press conference, had alleged that they were under pressure to withdraw the case. They charged that it is being done at the behest of Mr. Kulkarni.
