June 26, 2013 10:41 am | Updated November 16, 2021 08:36 pm IST - Mysore:

BJP leaders collected contributions from the public on Tuesday for providing relief to the Uttarakhand flood victims.

Flash floods resulting from extremely intense rainfall had resulted in untold misery to several people, including pilgrims visiting places such as Kedarnath and Badrinath. The calamity had wiped off several villages, BJP leaders, including G. Madhusoodan, MLC, said.

The party workers wanted the Union government to ensure the safety of people still trapped in remote places in Uttarakhand. They said rescue and relief efforts should gather pace and alleged that constructions along riverbanks in that State were allowed in violation of norms.

The former chairman of the Mysore Urban Development Authority L. Nagendra, BJP City unit president Shivakumar, and the former chairman of the Mysore Lac and Paints Ravishankar were among those present.
