Bidar is all set to have ‘Pay and Park’ facility.

According to a resolution passed by the city municipal council on Tuesday, vehicle users will have to pay money to park their two wheelers and four wheelers in the city, at least in select areas. This will reduce the traffic congestion and increase the CMC’s revenue, officials said.

Fatima Anwar Ali, CMC president, said that the city’s traffic was getting worse everyday and there was need for order. Paid parking will address the situation to some extent. We have to follow the model followed in cities like Hyderabad and increase our revenue, she said.

She said parking lots would be created near important circles and main roads. Fee collection permits would be auctioned off. Tenders would be floated from April and would be awarded to the highest bidders, she said.

‘Pay and use’ toilets would be constructed in 15 places in the city on public-private partnership basis. Operators would be asked to build, own, operate and transfer these facilities. CMC will provide government land to these operators, the president said.

The CMC also decided to transfer the animal slaughter-house to the outskirts of the city. We have identified places in Naubad, Sultanpur and Gornalli. However, we need more land and we are in talks with land owners in these villages, Jagadish Nayak, CMC commissioner said.
