A 23-year-old student of a private college in Bangalore drowned in the Cauvery at Balamuri near Srirangapatna on Sunday evening.
The Krishna Raja Sagar police identified the deceased as Kiran Kumar, a resident of Bannerghatta in Bangalore.
The police said that Kiran Kumar hailed from Chikmagalur. Kiran had gone on a picnic to Balamuri. He had gone for a swim when he drowned, they added.
