The former Chief Minister and BJP national vice-president B.S. Yeddyurappa has said that the party will organise public awareness meetings in 150 Assembly segments on the “misrule” of the Congress government in the State and to highlight the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that the arrogance of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had reached its peak and because of his non-cooperation, several development works, which the Centre wanted to initiate in the State, had remained pending.
Mr. Yeddyurappa said that although the Centre had sought land for setting up a fertilizer factory in the State, there had been no response from the State government till date. Terming Mr. Siddaramaiah as a liar, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that none of the announcements made by the Chief Minister in the budgets had been implemented and those he had named had remained on paper. To a query regarding why RSS functionaries had opposed the Land Acquisition Bill, Mr. Yeddyurappa termed it as false and contended that Mr. Modi had introduced the Bill only after several Chief Ministers wrote to him on its need. Several development works, including railway projects, had remained pending because of the existing laws on land acquisition, he said.

He alleged that the lottery scam had led many to believe that such a big scam would not have happened without protection from high-profile politicians, including the Chief Minister and the Home Minister. A CBI inquiry should be initiated to bring out the truth, he said.
Mr. Yeddyurappa expressed the confidence that over 70 per cent of BJP-supported candidates would emerge victorious in the gram panchayat elections.
