Asanas, pranayama in Belagavi

International Day for Yoga was celebrated across Belagavi district on Thursday. Students of schools and colleges performed Yoga asanas and pranayama breathing exercises in their schools and some public places such as gardens and playgrounds.

MP Suresh Angadi said that yoga was not only a set of physical exercises but also an important platform to bring several different cultures together. He asked young people to practice Yoga daily to ensure physical and mental balance and a long life.

In Belagavi, Mr. Suresh Angadi, MLAs Anil Benake and Abhay Patil joined Yoga enthusiasts in performing asanas at Gandhi Bhavan in the morning.

Deputy Commissioner S. Ziyaullah, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer R. Ramachandran, Deputy Commissioner of Police Seema Latkar and others were present. KLE College of Technology also celebrated Yoga Day in Chikkodi. A large number of students participated in Surya Namaskar and other asanas.

Resource person Devendra Biswagar described Yoga as the biggest gift of India to mankind and urged parents to teach it to their children.

Sidramappa V. Itti, principal, Vishal Danawade, Vikram Patil, Snehal Talikoti, Harinath Reddy and others were present.

Banker R.V. Bhat inaugurated the celebrations in the government primary school in Vijay Nagar in Belagavi.

Teacher Basavaraj Sunagar and others were present.

Yoga Day was celebrated in Angadi Institute of Technology in Belagavi. Trainer V. Damoni conducted a short training session. Principal Sanjay Pujari and others were present.

Mohan Bagewadi of Patanjali Yoga Samiti spoke at the Karnataka Law Society’s VP Polytechnic. Students celebrated the day by performing asanas. Principal S.K. Ambekar, faculty members Shivani Halgekar and Manjusha Magdum and others were present.

A Jala Yoga session was held in the Suvarna swimming pool on JN Medical College campus.
