Animal mass immunisation programme begins in Belagavi

KLE Society chairman Prabhakar Kore inaugurated a mass immunisation programme for animals at the KLE Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Mattikoppa village in Belagavi district on Wednesday.

He said that this was an ambitious programme of the NDA government at the Centre and that it was planning to spend around ₹ 13,000 crore over five years to achieve universal immunisation and artificial insemination to produce better cow progeny.

The government aims at eradication of foot-and-mouth disease by 2030, the Rajya Sabha member said.

He said that the programme will cover 51 crore large and small and animals and improve the productivity of native breeds of milch, wool, hide and other animals.

MLA Mahantesh Doddagoudar, scientists V.S. Korikantimath, G.P. Managuli, Joint Director of Agriculture Jilani Mokashi and others were present.
