‘December to Remember’, a special tourism promotional idea for drawing tourists to Mysuru during the year-end and the New Year, will unfold on Saturday.
With the backing of the departments of Tourism, Kannada and Culture, and Information and Public Relations, and the zilla panchayat, Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA), Mysore City Corporation (MCC) and University of Mysore, the district administration is leaving no stone unturned to develop the initiative into a major annual tourist fiesta.
The Mysuru Tourism Festivals, under the December to Remember, will be launched on December 27 at the Open Air Theatre on Manasagangotri campus at 6 p.m.

As a prelude to the launch, a heritage walk, which was arranged by the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, began here on Thursday.The heritage walk will be conducted around the city’s prime heritage sites from Balarama Gate of the Mysuru palace from December 25 to 30 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. The walk was conducted for the public on Thursday. The same would be conducted for students (cycle tour) on December 26; for youth on December 27; foreign tourists on December 28; hostel students on December 29 and for the general public on December 30.
The three-day Boating festival will be held at Karanji Lake Nature Park from December 26 to 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A carol singing programme has been arranged at the St. Philomena’s Church, which is a major tourist attraction, on December 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

There is good news for food lovers as a food festival will be hosted at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on December 27 to 28 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The cultural events will be hosted at the Open Air Theatre in Manasagangotri daily from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. from December 27 to 30.
The events include — Mysuru Dance Festival on December 27; Mysuru Sangeetha Utsav on December 28; Mysuru Carnival Utsav and Mysuru Yuva Utsav on December 29, and Mysuru Silk Heritage Utsav on December 30.
The Carnival Utsav will be held at Balarama Gate of Mysore Palace; K R Circle; D. Devaraj Urs and Oval Grounds.
Youth festival
The event will give an apt platform for the youth to showcase their talents. Dollu kunita, folk dance, group dance, fusion dance, programmes on national harmony, contemporary music and Dasara Vaibhava will be performed by the students of various colleges of Mysuru.
Trekking to Chamundi Hills has been arranged on December 31 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. The trekking will begin from the foothills of the Chamundi.
