It was given away to writers and achievers from different walks of life

Writers and achievers from different walks of life were presented the State-level Amma Awards and honorary Amma awards, instituted by the Matoshree Mahadevamma Nagappa Munnur Prathishtan, on Tuesday night. The former Minister Raja Madangopal gave away the awards at the 13th Amma Awards ceremony at Shambavi Rangamantap at Panchalingeshwar temple in Sedam town.

The Amma Award winners included poets Rajashekar Kukkunda and B.R. Laxman Rao, translator Srajan Hospete, journalist C.G. Manjula and researcher Jayadevi Jangamshetty.

Honorary awards

Mr. Madangopal also gave away the honorary Amma Awards to gynaecologist Shantaveer Sunkad, former Minister and president of Hyderabad Karnataka Horata Samiti Vaijnath Patil and theatre activist L.B.K. Aladal.

Mr. Madangopal lauded the prathisthan for identifying the contribution of the writers and poets and awarding them.

President of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat Mahipal Reddy Munnur was also present.
