Act against Sruthi’s harassers, women’s panel tells police

The Karnataka State Commission for Women has written to the cyber crime police to initiate action against social media users who are allegedly threatening and troubling actor Sruthi Hariharan after she alleged sexual harassment by Arjun Sarja.

Ananth Naik, lawyer for Ms. Hariharan, said that she had received threats online by those who claimed to be Mr. Sarja’s fans. He said that they had given screenshots to Nagalakshmi Bai, chairperson of the commission as evidence.

Ms. Hariharan also recorded her statement before the commission and narrated the entire incident. The commission has written to the City Police Commissioner to submit all details pertaining to the investigation of the case to it.

Ms. Hariharan has moved the High Court, challening the FIR by the cyber crime police against her based on a complaint by Shiva Arjun, manager, Shree Raam Films International that belongs to actor Mr. Sarja’s family. The complaint stated that Ms. Hariharan had allegedly misused cyberspace facilities to defame Mr Sarja.
