August 22, 2016 05:13 pm | Updated 06:44 pm IST - Mangaluru

Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation D.V. Sadananda Gowda said here on Monday that the BJP’s central committee decided a few months ago that party State president B.S. Yeddyurappa would be the next chief ministerial candidate. Amit Shah, national president, reiterated the same in Mangaluru on Sunday.

In an informal chat with media, Mr. Gowda said the State party leaders have agreed to make Mr. Yeddyurappa the next chief minister. “Mr. Yeddyurappa is an unquestionable leader of the party. All leaders would strive together to bring the party back to power in the State.”

Mr. Gowda said the party's core committee, at a meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday, would discuss the differences of opinion in the party. “All would be sorted out within the framework of the party. The differences of opinion among leaders earlier had taught a lesson to the party,” he added.
