A 50-year-old woman died after she came under the Mysuru-Chamarajanagar passenger train that she was to board in Mysuru on Tuesday morning.

Railway police said Prema, a Group “D” employee in the office of the Superintendent of Chamarajanagar District Police, was crushed under the engine of the train while she was trying to cross the railway track at the level crossing near Chamarajapuram Railway Station in the city.

“Three persons were crossing the railway track at the closed level crossing in a bid to reach the platform and board the train. While two others managed to clear the railway track before the train arrived, Prema could not. She was hit by the engine of the train and died on the spot,” a railway police officer said.
