Transport staff to strike on July 25

July 22, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - BALLARI:

The Joint Committee of KSRTC workers unions have called for an indefinite strike from July 25 to press for their demands.

Adimurthy, president of the district unit of the KSRTC Staff and Workers Union, said that the committee was forced to take the step as the State government and the management of the four road transport corporations had failed to positively respond to demands. Revision of salaries up to 35 per cent; putting an end to victimisation of staff and crew; and extension of medical benefits, pension and other retirement benefits were among the demands put forth by the unions.

“We have submitted representations in November 2015 and on July 3 urging the government and the managements to convene a bipartite meeting to revise the pay scales and also concede to other demands. The State government and the managements have unilaterally decided to revise the pay by 8 per cent,” he said.
