T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) will be organising the eighth edition of its annual HR conclave titled “Disha” on its premises here.
The five-day event will be inaugurated at the seminar hall of TAPMI here on Tuesday.
A press release issued by the institute here said that the theme of this year’s conclave is: “Organisation in VUCA world: HR at crossroads.” VUCA stands for volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. Dilpreet Singh, Director HR, IBM, will be the chief guest at the inaugural function at 11.30 a.m.

In addition to the previous events at the conclave, a new event, “Embauche” will test the student’s aptitude in hiring the best leader for their organisation. The participants will assume as the Board of Directors to select the best hire from among the world leaders.
More experts from the industry are expected to participate in the conclave this time compared to the previous year.
Conceptualised in 2009, “Disha” provides a platform for the students to interact with HR experts, discover new perspectives, learn about the current challenges and developments in the field and understand the expectations of the industry.

The conclave includes various events. “Vrondi,” a mock press event gives the audience a chance to feel like a member of the press and pose questions to the panel comprised of students who defend a controversial topic while being judged by industry professionals.
“Onimia,” the panel discussion which sees experts from the industry give their opinions on a particular topic.
“We the People,” a debate which tests the analysing capability and oratory skills of students and “Sophos,” a series of guest lectures given by experts of the business world from a range of different sectors and backgrounds, the release added.
