Late Congress councillor Ananthu’s wife Ashwini, contesting as a Congress rebel, won the by-polls to Mysuru City Corporation’s Ward 58.
Ms. Ashwini, who entered the fray as a rebel after the party refused to field her, was declared elected after the counting of votes on Wednesday.
Polling was held on Sunday. While Ms. Ashwini secured 1,248 votes, Congress candidate Manjunath polled 924 votes to finish third.
