Members of various school development and management committees and Kannada associations protesting near the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mandya on Tuesday.

Members of various school development and management committees (SDMC) and Kannada associations on Tuesday staged a protest demanding that the State government withdraw its recent circular on the redeployment of teachers serving with government primary schools.

They gathered outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner here and raised slogans against the government for not consulting the teachers’ associations before issuing the circular. The redeployment would increase the burden on teachers and also affect the quality of education at the schools, they said.

The Education Department should have completed the transfer processes under the redeployment scheme immediately after the 2015-16 academic year. However, the process was started two months after the commencement of the present academic year, they said.

The protestors urged the government to withdraw the circular immediately to protect the interests of the students.

Later, they submitted a memorandum to the government through the office of Deputy Commissioner.
