Partial bus operations resume in Chamarajanagar

July 27, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - Chamarajanagar:

A large number of private carriers, including buses, maxicabs, taxis and autorickshaws ferried commuters to reach their destinations here on Tuesday owing to the indefinite strike called by the employees of the road transport corporations in the State.

However, KSRTC operated two buses from Chamarajanagar depot and three buses from Kollegal to various places.

The strike also caused hardship to patients from rural areas to reach the district hospital.

According to sources, the number of outpatients visiting the district and taluk hospitals dipped on Tuesday.

Devotees also found it difficult to reach M.M Hills Temple and other religious places in the district. Students from rural areas, who use monthly bus passes, remained confined to their homes, as they did not want to pay excess fares to private operators.

There was no holiday declared for educational institutions in the district on Tuesday as private buses operated to rural areas.
