New education policy soon: Minister

Minister for Higher Education T.B.Jayachandra has said that the State government will bring in a new Education Policy and that the Knowledge Commission headed by former ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) Chairman Kasturirangan has submitted a report in this regard to the government.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr.Jayachandra said that the new policy will help to address the issues related to the education sector. A lot of changes will be brought in, right from anganwadi to higher education. Issues such as quality education, revision of curriculum, infrastructure, employability, and skill development will be addressed. To bring synergy between industry and education, the curriculum has to be changed according to the requirements of the industry, which will increase the employability.

He said the government has also taken the suggestions of scientist C.N.R. Rao in this regard.

Vice-Chancellors’ meeting

Mr. Jayachandra said that a meeting of Vice-Chancellors of Universities in the State will be held on June 15 to discuss about the new education policy.

Appointment orders

The appointment orders to all the 2,160 candidates who have been selected for the assistant professor’s posts will be issued by the end of this month.

Special officer Prof. Jaffet for Bengaluru Central university and special officer T.D.Kemparaju for Bengaluru North university have been appointed.
