February 09, 2017 12:41 am | Updated 12:41 am IST - Hassan:

Hundreds of people, particularly college students, attended ‘Bharata Bhagya Vidhata’, a music-drama presentation on B.R. Ambedkar’s life and struggle, held at the district stadium in Hassan on Tuesday.

A group of 75 artists presented the programme, sponsored by the Information Department. The programme highlighted Dr. Ambedkar’s contribution to the country, besides the atrocities he faced.

Minister for Sericulture and Animal Husbandry A. Manju, who is also in-charge of the district, inaugurated the event. He said Dr. Ambedkar inspired him to become a Minister. The constitution drafted by Dr. Ambedkar had given a voice to many voiceless, Mr. Manju said.

H.K. Kumaraswamy, MLA, Alur-Sakleshpur, urged the State government to take the show to the taluks. “This is a very good programme to educate people. At present, it is only being staged at the district centres. People in taluks should also get a chance to be a part of it,” he said.

B.M. Giriraj, film director, directed this show. N.R. Vishu Kumar, director, Information Department, developed the concept, while K.Y. Narayanaswamy penned poems. Purna Chandra Tejasvi directed the music.
