Minister promises uninterrupted power supply for Raichur

Published - August 15, 2016 06:49 pm IST - RAICHUR:

Uninterrupted power supply to Raichur district, a demand that stemmed from the fact that the district houses State-owned power station Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) and soon-to-be operational Yermarus Thermal Power Station (YTPS), may become a reality soon. Addressing mediapersons after hoisting tricolour at district police grounds here on Monday, District In-charge Minister Tanveer Sati said that he would give good news on the issue soon.

“I have discussed the issue with the Energy Minister and other officials in the department. Our demand is to get uninterrupted power supply to entire district. However, the energy department has said that it can meet demand of Raichur taluk alone. A decision will be taken soon,” he said.

Responding to a question on teacher appointments, Mr. Sait said that the process of appointing 1727 high school teachers would be completed by the end of next month. “Around 2.40 lakh candidates had applied for 1727 posts. Dharwad bench of Karnataka high court has recently disposed a petition related to the appointment. We will take a fresh decision on the amendments to Cadre and Recruitment Rules and complete the appointment process by the end of September,” he said.
