Man gets life for murder

The Third Additional District and Sessions Court here has awarded life imprisonment to a construction worker accused of murdering his co-worker, on Saturday.

The police had arrested Shekharappa, a resident of Raichur, who had been employed at a construction site at Swamy Vivekananda Extension in the city, in December 2015, on the charge of murdering his co-worker Raja Saab, who hailed from Bengaluru. It is said that the duo used to frequently quarrel over sharing the work load. On December 18, 2015, when Raja Saab was asleep, Shekharappa had hit him with a log on the head, and killed him in the process.

The police had arrested Shekharappa and booked a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code against him. After the hearing, the Court held him guilty and awarded him life imprisonment. The Court has also slapped a fine of ₹40,000 on him.
