MCC sets June-end deadline for renewing trade licences

As many as 8,799 traders have not renewed their trade licences in the jurisdiction of Mangaluru City Corporation for 2016-17. The civic body is yet to collect Rs. 1.21 crore from them as trade licence fee.

Stating this at a press conference here on Thursday Kavitha Sanil, chairperson, Standing Committee for Health, Education and Social Justice, said that all such traders would have to renew the licence within June-end. Otherwise the corporation would initiate legal action against them including locking the business establishments. Traders who have not yet applied for licence should apply before June-end.

Ms. Sanil said that of the 29,100 traders in the city, 19,561 have renewed their licences and licences of 740 traders have been cancelled. The corporation collected Rs. 1.87 crore as trade licence fee till May end for 2016-17. It included Rs. 1.74 crore from renewals and Rs. 13.36 lakh from new applicants.
