Mysuru will be hosting the 7th Indo-Japan International Conference on ‘Science and Technology: Future Challenges and Solutions (STFCS-2016)’ on August 8 and 9.
Indian JSPS Alumni Association, in collaboration with the University of Mysore and Department of Nanotechnology, Visvesvaraya Technological University, has organised the summit, which will be inaugurated on Monday at the Senate Bhavan at 10 a.m.
University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor K.S. Rangappa told reporters here on Saturday that the conference is being organised under the auspices of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and under the centenary celebrations of the University of Mysore through JSPS Alumni Association (IJAA).

JSPS, founded in 1930, is an independent administrative institution in Japan to promote science in all fields of natural, social science and humanities across the globe. Every year, many researchers from India go to Japan under the JSPS programmes. IJAA was founded in 2006 to boost the India-Japan collaboration and activities in science and technology field.
Prof. Rangappa said the conference also marks the 31st anniversary of India-Japan Science and Technology Cooperation.
He said a team of Japanese experts from five universities — Hokkaido, Toyo, Ritsumeikan, Meiji, Kyoto and Iwate University, along with JSPS officials — are participating.

About 25 Japanese universities are setting up stalls to showcase their educational and research opportunities at their respective universities. A total of 12 technical sessions will be held at Vignana Bhavan, including the keynote addresses of Ichiro Uyeda, vice-president, Hokkaido University, Japan, and R.K. Sharma, Director, DFRL, Mysuru. Indian and Japanese universities are signing MoUs on the sidelines of the conference.
