Hassan district in-charge Minister, Revanna continue to spar

Minister says he will furnish documents that prove wrongdoings under the JD(S) rule in district

Minister for Animal Husbandry and Sericulture A. Manju and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Revanna have continued with their war of words over the administration in the Hassan Zilla Panchayat (ZP).

Mr. Manju has said he will come out with documents to prove the wrongdoings of the Janata Dal (Secular) rule in the district if its members did not attend the ZP meeting, while Revanna challenged the Minister to get an inquiry conducted against him.

‘No more adjournments’

Taking serious exception to JD(S) members skipping the ZP meeting, convened on Friday, Mr. Manju said he knew how to make the JD(S) members attend the meeting. “If the JD(S) members continue to remain absent for the meeting and disrupt development works in the district, I know how to make them budge. I will bring out all the illegalities committed during the JD(S) rule in the district. Besides, I know how to put an end to the practice of repeated adjournments permanently,” he said.

The Hassan ZP had convened a meeting on Friday. However, it was postponed owing to lack of quorum.

‘Wrong agenda’

Mr. Revanna, in a press conference, said that JD(S) members had skipped the meeting because the agenda was not in order. “As per the rules, the agenda should have included the discussion on constituting standing committees. Five committees have to be formed. However, the officers have included seeking approval for an action plan on the agenda. How can the action plan be approved without having the standing committees,” he questioned.

He maintained that it was the right of the members to have their role in preparing the action plan. The standing committee has to approve it before placing it before the council. “The district in-charge minister wants to conduct the meetings according to his whims and fancies. We have raised an objection to the agenda,” he said.

Responding to the allegation of illegalities, Mr. Revanna said he was ready for any probe.

“He (A. Manju) is a Minister. Let him pressurise the government and order a probe against me,” he challenged.
