Girl dies in coffee estate

A girl died under mysterious circumstances at a coffee estate near Kalasa on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Vanajakshi (13), the daughter of Ramesh, a native of Chitradurga district. He and his wife were employed in a coffee estate belonging to Yalanduru Venkatesh.

According to the Kalasa police, Vanajakshi accompanied her parents to pick coffee beans on Sunday morning, despite their objection. While her parents were busy picking the beans, she fell unconscious and died. It is suspected that she died after she inhaled the insecticide that was sprayed in the coffee plantation.

The Kalasa police have registered an unnatural death report based on the information provided by her father. However, the reason for her death would be ascertained only after post-mortem report was available.
