Five VTU students selected for Standford University fellowship programme

The students competed with 169 students from four countries in the selection process.

Five students from Visvesvaraya Technological University, the State’s only technological university, have been selected for University Innovation Fellows programme of the Stanford University, U.S.

According to a VTU release, a total of 169 students from four countries participated in the selection process. The five students of VTU, Samanth Mendke and Shriya Hukkeri from Gogte Institute of Technology, Belagavi, Abhay Rangan V., Priyanka Srivastava and Asher John Sathya from CMR Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, were selected.

The fellows will be provided six weeks rigorous online training on various development and innovative projects, aimed at bringing a change in University system. After the training, fellows will be attending the annual UIF Silicon Valley Meet scheduled in March. During the meet, the fellows will share their experiences at the D-school, Google and other Silicon Valley organisations. They will also participate in experiential workshops and exercises focused on topics including movement building, innovation spaces, design of learning experiences, and new models for change in higher education.

Congratulating the students for their achievement, Vice-Chancellor Karisiddappa said the VTU had been encouraging international collaborations and interacting with several reputed universities and organisations for collaborative research, exchange of faculty members and students to make value additions to their teaching and learning abilities.
