Anupama Shenoy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kudligi Sub-division in Ballari district, is back in the news.

Enquiries revealed that Ms. Shenoy had taken three persons into preventive detention under Section 107 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC) and produced them before the taluk magistrate on Saturday. Following this, there was a protest by a group of people against her. It was after this that Ms. Shenoy handed over the letter to her subordinate officer, with instructions to hand it over to Superintendent of Police, and left the office in a huff.

Mr. Chetan said that following a complaint by Dalit leaders that the extension of a liquor shop would block the road leading to Ambedkar Bhavan, Ms. Shenoy summoned the shop owner and instructed him not to go ahead with the work until the area was resurveyed. Later, she reportedly detained Ravi, the shop owner, and two others.

Ms. Shenoy hogged the limelight in January after she was transferred. Following a public outcry, the government cancelled the transfer.
