Former Prime Minister and Lok Sabha MP H.D. Devegowda, on Monday said, he “forgot” to file the statement of assets and liabilities to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, but would submit it when Parliament meets next week.

“I forgot to file the statement, which I had submitted to the Election Commission during the (Lok Sabha) election. Since I had not acquired any new property after the election, I thought I could do it later”, Gowda, who heads JDS, said.

Gowda’s reaction came in the wake of reports that about 110 MPs, including him, have not submitted details of their assets and liabilities.

“I will file the statement of my assets to the Lok Sabha Speaker on the day Parliament meets for joint session”, he told reporters.

Rules stipulate that MPs declare their assets within 90 days of their election.
