Death of Gescom staffer: three suspended

June 25, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 01:08 pm IST - BALLARI:

The Gulbarga Electric Supply Company (Gescom) has suspended K.V. C. Ramanjaneyalu, Executive Engineer; K. Satish, Assistant Executive Engineer; and V. Jagadish, Assistant Accounts Officer of Ballari city unit, pending departmental inquiry, in connection with the suicide of H. Nagaraj, Junior Assistant, along with his wife and two daughters on Thursday.

Nagaraj, in his death note, had accused the three of harassing him saying that he was on unauthorised leave. He was not allowed to report to duty, it has been alleged.

Nagaraj had pain in the stomach because of kidney stone and did not report to duty for three days in the first week of June.

He sent a leave letter on the fourth day through his colleague. By then, the senior officials had issued a memo.

Nagaraj strangled his wife and two daughters before hanging himself at his residence in Bandihatti locality.

The suspension order, issued on Thursday, was based on a report issued by the Chief Engineer Ballari and the first information report by the police.

Case registered

Meanwhile, Cowl Bazar police have registered cases against Ramanjaneyalu, Satish, Jagadish and also against three others – a meter reader, a mechanic and an Assistant Accounts Officer – based on a complaint by Nagaraj.

Protest

On Friday, some of the friends and colleagues of Nagaraj staged a demonstration outside the Gescom sub-division office demanding suspension of the other three accused.
