Jaganmohan Palace will be covered in the ‘Palace on Wheels’ programme.

The Tourism Department is embarking on a new initiative to popularise heritage structures, including the various palaces in the city, during Dasara.

The initiative — ‘Palace on Wheels’ — entails an exploratory journey through the different palaces in the city from 10.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Janardhan, Assistant Director of Tourism, said at the Dasara Executive Committee meeting on Thursday that tourists opting for the package will first be shown the highlights of Amba Vilas Palace for two hours. This will be followed by a visit to the Jaganmohan Palace to savour the works of Raja Ravi Varma. This visit will take around 45 minutes, after which the tourists will be taken to Lalitha Mahal Palace and given a guided tour of the Presidential suite and the Governor’s suite. After having lunch at the hotel, they will visit Vasant Mahal and the Karanji Mansion, and then the the Cheluvamba Mansion, which houses the Central Food Technological Research Institute.
