The Special Lokayukta Court has ordered a probe into the assets of M. Srinivas, chairman of the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) in Srinivaspur taluk of Kolar, and his wife, S. Chandrakala, who is a gynaecologist at the government hospital in Srinivaspur.
In a private complaint, Maruthi Reddy submitted documents to show that the couple owned assets worth over Rs. 50 crore. The documents showed that Mr. Srinivas owned 50 acres of land in the taluk in addition to a plot of land in Ramamurthynagar in Bangalore.
The complaint sought prosecution of Mr. Srinivas and his wife, both public servants, under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act for owning assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

Mr. Reddy alleged that Mr. Srinivas misused his powers when he was the president of the Srinivaspur Taluk Panchayat to grab eight acres of land meant for distribution among landless people from economically weaker sections.
In addition, Mr. Srinivas owned a commercial complex valued at Rs. 2 crore that he had leased out to the Social Welfare Department as well as other buildings and plots in the vicinity.
