The government has offered four more months for people in the limits of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, 10 municipal corporations, and 260 local municipalities, who have built houses and developed housing extensions on or before October 19, 2013, to regularise their properties that have violated building bylaws.
A decision was taken at a meeting convened by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here on Saturday.
Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George, Urban Development Minister Roshan Baig, Minister for Municipal Administration Eshwar Khandre, Bengaluru mayor, and other senior officials were present.

Mr. George told mediapersons after the meeting that “a notification will be issued on Monday (January 2).”
The High Court of Karnataka had dismissed petitions challenging the State government’s Akrama-Sakrama scheme (regularisation of properties) and facilitated the regularisation of domestic and commercial buildings violating municipal bylaws.
“There is no change in the penalty levied for regularisation. Penalty fixed while amending the Karnataka Town and Rural Planning Act will continue,” he clarified, adding that applications could be submitted either online or in person.

The responsibility of implementing the scheme has been handed over to Mr. George, Mr. Baig, and Mr. Khandre.
No further extension
It is said that as Acts and norms are in place to facilitate Akrama-Sakrama, it has been decided against further amending the law. “It will be the last opportunity for regularisation of unauthorised structures and there is no chance of extending the deadline further,” said Mr. George.
