Aptly called In Swing, this eatery caters to cricket lovers who must eat after all

Cricket seems to be the flavour of the season, literally. From songs of encouragement, to contests, to taking a day off from work to watch a match, cricket rules people's minds.

Here in In Swing, a north Indian restaurant, it is no different. Building itself around the sport, it has steadily made its way into the hearts of food/cricket lovers of Banashankari.

The place breathes cricket, be it the caricatures of cricketers, newspaper clippings displayed at the entrance, tables with cricket balls embedded in them, menu cards shaped like a cricket ball or the menu itself designed using cricket jargon. Late Mr. Harish Gupta, a former in-swinger, launched the restaurant to relive memorable cricketing moments and to satisfy his love for food.

After you place the order, you can admire the wooden fencing designed to resemble a stadium, or look at framed photographs of some rare moments in cricketing history (Don Bradman in fancy dress, among others).

There's even a cricket bat placed at the entrance bearing personal autographs of cricket stars such as Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.

While starting out on a meal, we choose Golden Froth to moisten our tongues along with delicious onion and capsicum rings and golden fried baby corn as starters (or ‘openers' as labelled).

The main course (Kapil da Dhaba) of aloo, gobi and mixed vegetable parathas made of pure wheat is definitely more than a sumptuous treat for the taste buds. For dessert we have the Maharashtrian kulfi which is a perfect end to a satisfying innings with food.

Don't forget to look out for daily specials such as the aam panna which comes straight from the Guptas' kitchen. Cricket lovers or not, you are sure to love the place for its attention to detail — from the food to the ambience. While you leave with a fuller tummy, you also go back a bit wiser thanks to the visual treat of cricket trivia within.
