The Mysuru Division of the South Western Railways has emerged as the capital for innovations. It has already rolled out 10 innovative ideas that are in the process of being implemented across the Division and more are to follow suit.
This was stated by the Divisional Railway Manager Atul Gupta during the 63rd Railway Week celebrations held recently.

Mr. Gupta said innovations that have been implemented include Intelligent Remote Monitoring and Alert System for outdoor signalling gears, Smart Unmanned Level Crossing Systems with adoption of Infrared and LoRa technology sensors; an employee Centric App with network enabled software designed to keep track and display service register, Office Order etc of employees from any internet enabled android device , to name a few. These are expected to shore up productivity and streamline the administrative processes.
He said providing amenities to passengers continues to be top of the agenda and in this connection it has identified Holenarasipur, for the development as an Adarsh Station and all works related to its upgrade have been completed. This includes completion of a new Foot Over Bridge connecting Platform 1 and 2.

In a bid to go green, the Division has adopted rainwater harvesting systems at 22 locations and a water recycling plant with a capacity of 4 lakh litres has been set up at a cost of ₹1.3 crore and commissioned at Mysuru. This will be used for cleaning and washing of trains and platforms at Mysuru Railway station.
Individual awards to 79 Meritorious Railway Employees were distributed on the occasion. In addition, one officer and 10 employees of Mysuru Division will be awarded for their meritorious services by General Manager at Zonal level during Railway Week celebrations at Hubballi.
