A replica of Sri Chennakeshava Temple of Somanathpur will be built with over 3.5 lakh different coloured roses at Kuppanna Park for the Dasara flower show this year. The temple which will be 18 ft tall and 16 ft wide, is the star attraction of the flower show this year.
Besides this, replicas of Barbie dolls and a peacock will be constructed with orchids while those of the Eiffel and clock towers will also come up. Flower statues of Buddha, Basavanna and Ambedkar are also being erected at the park for the show that will begin on September 21 and end on October 1.
P. Shivashankar, CEO of the zilla panchayat and president of the District Horticulture Society said that over 2,15,000 flowers of different varieties will be displayed at the flower show that is being jointly organised by the Department of Horticulture and District Horticulture Society. He said the management is planning to execute more flower concepts on the premises. Orchids, bonsai, cactus, and different types of floral and dry flower arrangements, ferns, anthuriums, medicinal and aromatic plants, exotic fruits and vegetables will be on display. The show this year will also have a terrace garden. Vegetable carvings, floral creepers and horticulture farm implements will be on display.

There will be a musical fountain, a lazer light show, and a food court in the park that is spread over 10 acres, the CEO said, and added that many organisations have joined hands with the Horticulture Department in organising the flower show. They are BEML NIE college of Engineering, Mysore Palace Garden Section, Triton Volves, JK Tyres, TVS, Indian Ayurvedic College, JSS Ayurveda College, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Brakes India Ltd., Worth Electronics, Urban Greens.
These organisations will also exhibit their horticultural displays.
Lakhs of flowers are grown in different nurseries of the department and preparations for the show have been under way for four months now, Mr. Shivashankar said. Certain flowers were being brought in from Bengaluru and other places for the show.

There will be a stall from each State at the food court. The laser show will be held between 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Entry fee is ₹25 per head for adults and ₹10 for children.
