Mysuru City police have managed to trace 20 missing children including eight girls during Operation Muskan, a month-long campaign carried out to trace missing children, which ended on July 31.
Before the campaign began, the police said a total of 84 children, including 25 girls, who went missing from Mysuru City since January 2011, were yet to be traced.
But thanks to their efforts that included providing training to police personnel, co-ordinating with NGOs and government agencies, besides creating awareness among the public, the Mysuru City police has successfully traced 20 of them from Mysuru, Bengaluru, Mandya, Mangluru, Madikeri and different places in Andhra Pradesh.

Out of the traced children, one had been missing since 2013, seven since 2014 and 12 went missing during 2015. The missing children were aged between six and 18 years.
During Operation Muskan, the City police had not only distributed pamphlets, but also pasted photographs of the missing children in prominent places and appealed to the general public to inform them about such children.
