Haryana police arrests 3 aides of Dera Sacha Sauda chief

The three were arrested for inciting violence and assisting an escape attempt by the Dera Sacha Sauda chief.

Haryana police have arrested Chamkaur Singh, who is facing allegations of inciting violence and assisting an escape attempt by the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim in Panchkula on August 25, after he was convicted in a rape case.

The Special Investigating Team (SIT), which is probing the incident have also arrested two other accused, Karamjeet Singh and Daan Singh.

Haryana's Panchkula witnessed deadly violence by Dera followers after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted, leaving 35 people dead and injuring over 250 people. Six people died in Sirsa as well. Ram Rahim was later sentenced to 20 years in prison in the rape case.

Police said that it has arrested Chamkaur Singh, who was Dera Sacha Sauda’s Panchkula district in-charge and Daan Singh from Chandigarh while Karamjeet Singh, a Punjab Police commando was arrested from Patiala.

Panchkula Police Commissioner A.S. Chawla told reporters that the three accused have been arrested and would be now produced in the court.
