Rohtak Deputy Commissioner Atul Kumar on Saturday said that Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS) chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was being treated as an ordinary inmate in Sunaria Jail in Rohtak, and was being provided the same food that is provided to other inmates.
With the CBI judge to be flown to Rohtak to pronounce the quantum of sentence in the case, the Deputy Commissioner said that the situation in the district was under control and that the police was prepared to tackle any situation.
Appeal to people
Making an appeal to the people to not to enter the district without specific or urgent reasons, Mr. Kumar said that barricades have been set up at several places to check every person entering Rohtak and that a Duty Magistrate has also been deputed.
If during the check, any person fails to produce proof of identity or specify a sound reason for visiting the district, then he would be taken into custody.
The police have so far taken seven persons into custody, he added.
As many as 10 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed.
Mr. Kumar added that 18 columns of the Army had been requisitioned, and these would soon reach the district and carry out a flag march.
Section 144 imposed
Apart from this, the District Administration, Rohtak, has imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), prohibiting assembly of five or more persons and the carrying of firearms and other weapons.
The administration has also directed the gram panchayats to deploy youth to carry out ‘thikri pehra’ (a vigil by the community for peace) for maintenance of law and order in their villages.
