Insult to Sonia: Kiran denies delay in taking action

October 22, 2013 03:31 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 09:32 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday denied the charge that he had not acted against the people, who reportedly insulted AICC president Sonia Gandhi in Tirupati last week by building a memorial of her flexi poster.

In a statement, Mr. Reddy said such allegations were the handiwork of some politicians, whose frame of mind was disturbed. As soon as the news about the incident was brought to his notice, he had made a telephone call to the officials concerned to take stern action against the culprits, the press release said.

He said as many as 10 persons were taken into custody in connection with the incident. He lamented that some politicians were deliberately trying to drag him into the controversy by alleging that he had not acted immediately.
