Many flights from India to Dubai did not take off on Thursday, a day after an Emirates aircraft from Thiruvananthapuram crash-landed at the Dubai airport crippling operations at one of the world’s busiest airports.
Following directives from the Dubai airport authorities, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Jet Airways suspended their flights to Dubai on Thursday as the runway was off limits.
The Dubai airport is allowing only wide-bodied aircraft such as Boeing 777, A-380 and A-330 on its only operational runway. Narrow-bodied aircraft such as A-320 and B-737 — the type flown by IndiGo, SpiceJet and Jet Airways — are not allowed till normality is restored, airline officials said.

Flight disruptions are expected to continue till Sunday morning, they added. “All IndiGo flights operating to and from India stands cancelled for August 4, 2016. From August 5, till 7.30 a.m. on August 7, limited flights will be allowed to operate from Dubai airport,” IndiGo said in a statement.
SpiceJet said all its flights to and from Dubai had been cancelled.
Jet Airways was working to re-route two Dubai flights to Sharjah.

Emirates could operate most of its flights.
