Saamna editorial however says, the result does not mean that the Modi wave is receding.

While shielding Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Bharatiya Janata Party's dismal performance in recently held by-polls, the Shiv Sena on Wednesday did not waste an opportunity to warn the BJP to not take voters for granted.

"Assembly cannot be fought on the basis of Lok Sabha results and Municipal elections cannot be guessed on assembly results. The by-poll results are a lesson to be learned in terms of Maharashtra's elections," said an editorial in Sena mouthpiece

The editorial further cautioned to not to be over-confident after Lok Sabha results. "Keep your feet on the ground. Do not take the voters for granted. The people will vote for the one who will learn lessons from it," said the editorial, without naming the BJP.

The Sena and the BJP are currently engaged in a tusslebover the seat sharing formula for the state assembly elections. While the BJP is demanding equal seats, the Sena has clarified that it won't accept less than 150 in the assembly of 288 seats. Tuesday's results are likely to put the BJP on defensive mode.

While shielding Mr. Modi, the editorial said that the result does not mean that the Modi wave is receding. "Lok Sabha and assembly elections are two completely different things. People have voted for Mr. Modi to look after the country's governance. We cannot hold him responsible for the election of any grampanchayat," said the editorial.
