Work on Koyilandy taluk hospital building begins

Work on a new six-storey building for the Koyilandy taluk hospital in Kozhikode has begun.

The Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS), which had been given the contract for the project at an estimated cost of Rs.13.5 crore, was expected to complete the work within one-and-a-half years, a press release said.

The 3,243-sq.m. structure would house the orthopaedic ward, eye specialty wing, X-ray unit, casualty section, toilets, stores and other basic facilities on the ground floor, while the first floor would have operation theatres, observation wards and medical stores. Record rooms, nurses’ stations, intensive care units, men’s wards and rooms for the duty doctors would be arranged on the second floor. The fifth floor would have a women’s ward, doctors’ station, toilets, nursing stations and other basic facilities.
