Alleging persecution by the police and the anti-Naxal force, a leader of Scheduled Tribes from Aralam farm in Kannur district has claimed that they were not being allowed to take up contract jobs for a living.

Aruvikkal Krishnan, the tribal leader, told the media on Tuesday that police personnel had been conducting regular searches day and night on their premises since October.

Twenty people were detained for having alleged links with Maoists. Recently, the District Collector and the District Police Chief too visited the area and advised them to keep off from political activities.
