State-level Chithranjali nursery festival from January 19

More than 2,000 children to participate in the event

Around 2,000 children are expected to show up for the Chitranjali Nursery Arts Festival 2018 to be held at Tagore Centenary Hall in Kozhikode on January 19 and 20. The State-level festival for nursery schoolchildren is being organised for the 36th consecutive year. The festival will start with flag hoisting and balloon flying by 36 children at 9.30 a.m. on Friday. Mayor Thottathil Raveendran will be the guest of honour at the inaugural function, which will be presided over by organising committee general convenor P. Radhakrishnan. The present individual champion of the fest, Fiona Katherine of Presentation Nursery, Kozhikode, will open the event.

As many as 17 events are lined up for the fest. They will be held at four venues namely, Geethanjali, Raganjali, Pushpanjali, and Varnanjali.

District Collector U.V. Jose will be the guest of honour at the valedictory function to be held on January 20. A. Pradeep Kumar, MLA, will preside.

The school that scores maximum points will get an ever-rolling trophy, while the second prize winners will get the Chitranjali Trophy. P.V. Madhavi Swami Ever Rolling Trophy will be given to individual champions, while the second and third prize winners will get the K.K. Sukumaran Ever Rolling Trophy and P. Krishnan Rolling Trophy respectively. All participating students will get certificates and gifts.
