The Southern Railway has launched an intensive ticket checking drive involving special teams to ensure that window earnings at railway stations are improved.
In addition to the ticket-checking staff, special squads have been formed by the Palakkad Division to inspect, penalise violators, and educate the public against unauthorised activities punishable under various sections of Indian Railway Act.
The raids were conducted by teams headed by the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager in Kannur, Payyannur, Nileswaram, and Cheruvathur stations and various trains in the section; by the Divisional Commercial Manager at Palakkad Junction and in train No.16328 Thiruvananthapuram-Korba Express; and by the Assistant Commercial Manager at Feroke, Tirur, Kuttippuram, and Pattambi and in various trains in the Kozhikode-Shoranur section.

This apart, the Railway Board organised checks involving branch officers, Railway Protection Force, and ticket-checking staff. During the raids, the public were educated against footboard travel, the necessity of closing emergency windows, keeping platforms and trains clean, and prohibition on smoking on station premises.
Frequent announcements are also made to create awareness among the public to buy tickets.
P.A. Dhananjayan, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, said the public should produce the tickets upon inspecting officials’ demand.
