Science fete begins at St. Joseph's college

Quiz, model contest, and a physics stage show are among the events to be held.

University of Calicut Vice-Chancellor M. Abdul Salam inaugurated Brahmam 2013, an all-Kerala annual science fete conducted by the Physics Department of St. Joseph’s College, Devagiri, near Medical College here on Wednesday. The three-day fete began with ‘Ideal Discovery,’ a school-level competition to present innovative and novel ideas in science. As many as 23 teams comprising two students each from different parts of the State participated. GVHSS, Payyoli; JSR HSS, Manjeri; and GMVHSS, Koyilandy, secured first, second, and third places, respectively.

The second day of the fete will see an inter-college quiz, PowerPoint presentation competition, live theatre shows of science fiction, and a lecture by E. Ajay, Aerodrome Officer, HAL International Airport.

The third day will witness an inter-college elocution competition, a school-level working model competition, and a physics stage show presentation by Anantha Krishnan, visiting faculty of the International School of Photonics, Cochin University of Science and Technology.

The fete also hosts various infotainment stalls, exhibitions, seminars, and competitions.

Prizes to the tune of Rs.50,000 await the winners of different events, a release here said.
