The Kerala Private (Aided) School Managers’ Association has come out in defence of the manager of the Aided Upper Primary School, Malaparamba, against whom the police have registered a case after two of the school buildings were found demolished two weeks ago.
In a release issued here by the district committee of the association, its district secretary K. Gokulan said the manager did not require further sanction from any authorities since the government had already given him the permission to close down the school.
The association also questioned the legality of the Deputy Director of Education (DDE) disqualifying the manager from his post since the manager would not be in that position legally after the government decided to wind up the school as per the section 7(6) of the Kerala Education Rule (KER).

“Its strange how someone can disqualify the manager from that post when he is already not in that position legally,” he said.
The association also asked the government to take legal action against the district education officer concerned, who had adopted an “illegal” stand on this issue and announced the manager as “disqualified”.

The reconstructions of the demolished school buildings began under the aegis of the school protection committee.
DonationVarious individuals, cultural, and other organisations including the Democratic youth Federation of India (DYFI), Students Federation of India (SFI), and Kerala School Teachers Association (KSTA) donated generously to the reconstruction fund.
A. Pradeepkumar MLA, who was leading the reconstruction initiative, said the rebuilding was expected to be completed before the school reopened.
The school authorities also started the admission procedures for the next academic year at the school.
